Wolf Play for Harnas
Mar 13 - Kuba and the gang returned for the 6th installment of Polish Beer brand Harnas which incorporated the filming a pack of Wolf-Dogs in various alpine forest locations around Queenstown to match Europe. Thanks Propeller Films for being so consistent in returning almost every year. The projects are always excitingly unique and a whole bunch of fun!
Adam Strange - a Tragic Loss
Feb 13 - We are mourning the devastating loss of talented director Adam Strange in the wake of a fatal shark encounter. Our hearts go out to the family who now must somehow rise up from this disaster to continue their lives. Shoot Fixer Service Launch
Nov 2012 - We have launched a new Fixer division to handle smaller shoots where cost is paramount and crew numbers can be kept to a minimum. This additional service compliments changing trends in technology increasingly throwing off reliance on circus scale infrastructure to adroitly capture fresh images for advertising, web, & TV. Magic Milk in NZ Retrospective
Aug 2012 - Starting in Berlin end of August, a retrospective programme of six top New Zealand films will travel through Germany as part of New Zealand's Guest of Honour programme at the Frankfurt Book Fair. We are exhilarated to learn that our short film Aphrodite’s Farm will accompany this amazing set of great Kiwi films throughout this grand tour.
Polish Beer Keeps Coming!
Mar 2012 - The Propeller and Red 8 boys had been home just a month before they again made the epic journey from Poland to NZ's deep south. This was their seventh outing with us for a Polish Beer label since 2006 and we are stoked! Provincial Gore came alive like never before with a recreated 19th century Brewery made from the local theatre and sunny barley fields.
Beer through the Gorge
Jan 2012 - The Polish lads from Propeller & Agency Red 8 struck again for our fifth installment of Harnas beer. The locations were as exciting as always with ventures to Taieri Gorge Railway, the Kingston Flyer and Shotover River. This was a resounding example of what you can shoot and the fun you can have in NZ with a small crew!
Teaming up for China
Dec 2011 - We enjoyed teaming up with French Director Arghael Chatoux, Singapore’s Lava PTE, and TBWA Shanghai on a project encompassing client Pernod Ricard China’s wine brand Helan Mountain & armagnac Montesquiou. The Otago region offered up the best prospects for locations matching both the rugged Helan Mountain area in western China and iconic French style vineyards.
Air NZ Taps Magic Milk
Nov 2011 - If you are heading overseas on Air New Zealand between December 2011 & May 2012 you could catch our award winning short film Aphrodite's Farm screening on the in-flight NZ short film programme. It seems a most fitting place to have the iconic kiwi film presented along with many other wonderful local shorts. Happy travels!
Arla Cow's Birthday
May 2011 - Director Kim Jacobsen and Agency BBDO Denmark teamed up with us lately to produce a cute spot for Arla milk brand. The commercial features a 9-year old boy joyriding around a South Auckland farm on his home built box-car in a quest to celebrate his favorite cow's birthday. The car was specially designed & equipped with an electric motor to handle the terrain.
Aphrodite's Farm on Rialto
Apr 2011 - Short film Aphrodite's Farm is set to make its Television broadcast debut screening to New Zealand audiences on the Rialto channel during May & June. Check out the screening times on the Rialto channel website: www.rialtochannel.co.nz
Mustard for all Seasons
Feb 2011 - Mustard London Director Dom Bridges & EP John Doris engaged us for the Akzo Nobel Woodcare campaign destined for Europe. Auckland locations satisfied requirement for ‘generic’ housing styles appropriate across international borders. Magical SFX work was then conjured up to create scorching sunshine, rain, wind, snow and frost demonstrating what bare wood must endure year round.
Harnas Tames the Rees River
Nov 2010 - The animated character 'Harnas' famous in Poland for promoting the beer of same name returned to Queenstown for an exciting river crossing adventure. This time the bubbling mountain waters of the Rees River exuberantly running in the spring thaw was backdrop to our hero's quest to build a new bridge for the beer to traverse safely to his people.
Rhode Island Splash
Aug 2010 - The selection of ‘Aphrodite’s Farm’ by ‘FLICKERS’ Rhode Island Film Festival hot on the heels of another Academy Awards® qualifier - Cleveland International Film Festival rounded off an exciting debut for the short film. Most notable have been the Crystal Bear awarded in Berlin and the total of 5 Academy qualifier festival selections.
Snow Beauty's Winning Rugby
Jul 2010 - Our latest shoot for Indian cold cream Emami Malai Kesar thrilled us with the challenges of alpine winter filming which we relish. The good crew at Mumbai based Kailash Picture Company and talented Icelandic Director Lalli Jonsson enlisted us to help pull off this fabulous shoot featuring a scantily clad beauty outwitting a bunch of seasoned rugby players at their own game.

Milo's Late Green Barley
Apr 2010 - Ogilvy KL searched the globe for a pristine green barley field for the latest Milo TVC. Although late season, NZ really was the only feasible alternative during early April. Having just shot barley we were in a good position to steer friends Passion Pictures and director Richard Gibson to some stunning late maturing fields.
Natural Beer Creation
Mar 2010 - Kasztelan Polish beer sought locations to depict Poland’s Mazowsze landscape, natural source of ingredients and locality icon for the organic brand. 4th time client Propeller Film & director Marek Dawid engaged Joyride to piece it together shooting barley in Southland and sparkling stream waters in Kinloch area, Otago.

Feb 2010 - Here at Joyride we felt the dawn of a new decade was the perfect time to overhaul the engine and make positive changes for our future business. Aphrodite's to Flickerfest
Jan 2010 - Our Short Aphrodite’s Farm scored it’s third Academy® accredited Film Festival when selected in competition at Australia’s Flickerfest currently showing throughout Australia. The other two accredited festivals were LA Shorts Fest and Nashville International Film Festival.
Amway’s Mighty River
Nov 2009 - Planet Films returned to capture eco-care style natural landscape scenes for Amway’s latest Malaysian spot. Based in scenic central North Island’s Taupo area and shooting mostly aerials of the powerful Waikato River, we relished assisting Director Zahir Omar and Producer Nicholas Wong push budgets around to make this production flow.
